Shopify support that knows what shoppers are looking at
The Zens AI Shopify customer support app adds multilingual AI answers, live product-page context, human handoff, and one conversation history through a theme app extension—without editing Liquid theme files.
The first release requests no Shopify customer, order, discount, product-admin, or theme-file access.

Built for real shopping questions
More than an isolated chat bubble
A generic widget sees only the message. The Zens AI Shopify app also receives the current template, page title, product, collection, public price, availability, and cart count, so your team does not need to begin with “Which item are you viewing?”
Answer first, hand off when needed
Zens AI uses the knowledge your team maintains to answer shipping, returns, sizing, and product questions. When a question is uncertain, sensitive, or needs judgment, the visitor can reach your team in the same conversation.
Understand the product in view
The Shopify app sends the current public product, collection, price, availability, and cart item count as page context. Support answers can stay grounded in what the shopper is considering right now.
Continue in the shopper’s language
One Shopify customer support entry point can handle English, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, and more. Your team still reviews context and follow-ups in one Zens inbox.
Four steps to storefront support
From install to the first Shopify conversation
- 01
Create a Zens site
Add the public store homepage in Zens settings, confirm the domain, and copy the public Site ID. A signing secret never belongs in Shopify.
- 02
Install the Shopify app
Shopify shows that this release asks for no Admin API data scopes. After installation, open the App embeds panel for the current theme.
- 03
Enable and add the Site ID
Enable Zens AI customer support, paste the Site ID, and choose launcher, email follow-up, and public product-context settings.
- 04
Verify on the live storefront
Save the theme and send a test message from a real product page. Confirm the Zens site is active and the inbox shows product and page context.
Small permission surface
Solve storefront support before asking for private data
Apps that provide catalog search, personalized recommendations, and private order tracking need broader data access. The first Zens release chooses a narrower boundary: the theme extension uses context already rendered by Liquid on the public storefront. It receives no Shopify Admin API token and reads no customer email, address, order history, or discounts.
That boundary lets merchants validate AI answer quality, human handoff, and shopping conversations first. Private order lookup can ship later as a separate capability only after protected-customer-data approval, server-side token storage, and customer verification are complete.
What this release does
- Loads the Zens SDK through a Shopify Theme App Extension.
- Shares public page, product, collection, and cart-count context.
- Provides multilingual AI answers, human handoff, and one conversation record.
- Keeps session recording off until the merchant explicitly enables it.
- Verifies Shopify-required privacy webhooks with a signed HMAC.
Shopify app questions
What to know before launch
Does the app edit Shopify theme code?
No. Zens uses a Shopify Theme App Extension. Merchants can preview, enable, or disable the app embed in the theme editor, and Shopify removes the extension when the app is uninstalled.
Does it work with vintage themes?
Yes. Shopify app embeds support vintage themes and Online Store 2.0. They cannot render on checkout-step pages, so the support launcher covers product, collection, home, and content pages.
Is visitor data used to train models?
Zens does not sell Shopify integration data to advertisers or use Shopify data to train general AI models. Store owners remain responsible for the notices and consent choices required in their markets.
How does Zens learn store policies and product knowledge?
Shopify product context tells Zens what a shopper is viewing at that moment. Merchants should still import shipping regions, return conditions, sizing guides, warranty policies, and important product explanations into the Zens knowledge workspace. Shopify customer support can then combine team-approved long-term knowledge with current storefront context. After a policy changes, refresh the source and test the answer with realistic Shopify questions. Public product context improves relevance, but it does not replace a complete, maintained support knowledge base.
Can it look up a private order today?
No. This release has no order or customer scope and never claims to know private order status. A team can take over in Zens. Secure order lookup requires separate protected-data approval and customer verification.
Ready to connect a Shopify storefront?
Create a Zens site and copy its Site ID, then use the Shopify installation guide to activate the theme extension.
